EDUCATION TO LIBERATE

Lespwa Lavi Academy

Since 2019, Haiti has been thrown into a political and humanitarian crisis causing civil war.  The majority of schools across the entire country have either closed or are not operating fully.  In Verrettes, less than 50% of children attend school at all.  This void leaves girls especially vulnerable to being labor trafficked or illegally sold into child marriage. Lespwa Lavi Academy is founded to fill that void.  The Academy launched it’s first school in fall, 2023 for grades 1-8.

SOLVING POVERTY THROUGH SOCCER

Magic Soccer Academy

In Haiti, soccer is life. Even when there is no food on the table, there is excitement for the game!  Lespwa Lavi founder, Ricardo Pierre-Louis, knows firsthand the opportunities provided through sports and the benefits of allowing kids to be kids despite severe poverty and daily struggles. Soccer provides lifetime benefits of discipline and training. Magic Soccer Academy Verrettes (MSAV) offers elite level training to the youth of Verrettes and the surrounding area.

GIVING HOPE EACH DAY

Lespwa Lavi Church

The Lespwa Lavi church provides a fresh meal every Sunday for their congregation, many of whom eat only once a day.  They have baptized over 70 people in the nearby river and continue to grow. The leaders provide support and mentorship for the soccer academy coaches who are leading Bible studies every week.  The church has spiritually paved the way for many miracles to happen as Lespwa Lavi began, and they are an integral part of bringing hope to Verrettes.

NUTRITION

Feeding Program

In the fall of 2019, Lespwa Lavi partnered with the HaitiOne program through Convoy of Hope to provide 100% daily nutrition for the children in Verrettes.  When you sponsor a child, they are immediately enrolled in the nutrition program.  After 1 year of the program, we were able to document 0% severe malnutrition in all children enrolled. Lespwa Lavi partnered with Sawyer International to distribute over 100 water filters.  Since distributing the filters in March, 2023, we have seen zero cases of water-borne illnesses in that community!

Committed to improving the lives of children.

Advocacy

Lespwa Lavi employs Child Advocates who are community workers committed to improving the lives of children.  The advocates work with children in our sponsorship program to ensure they have access to education, nutrition, and medical care.  Over time the advocates develop a relationship with at-risk children and their caregivers, working to improve the situation.
