Volunteers Needed

As Lespwa Lavi grows, we are creating two new volunteer positions for our USA team!  Both of these are extremely flexible, work from home on your own schedule from anywhere in the country.  No experience necessary.  If either of these tug at your heart, email nika@lespwalavi.org

1.       Child Sponsorship Assistant.

a.       Time commitment: approx. 6 hours each quarter, plus additional time if available for annual audit.  Occasionally may be asked to join video call with Haiti staff and/or USA board of directors.

b.      Description: Assist in processing quarterly reports on sponsored children, recording growth measurements, school performance, addressing concerns from Child Advocates.  Assist in updating the website information for waiting children.  This is mainly data entry using Microsoft Excel/Google sheets.  Training provided, however basic knowledge of how to use Excel would be helpful.

c.       Benefits: This position offers a “front-row seat” to the impact of Lespwa Lavi in Haiti.  You will be the first to see when a child meets their educational goals and no longer meets criteria for malnutrition.

2.       Clean Water Program Coordinator. This is a 6 month commitment and would be an excellent student/grad student project.

a.       Time commitment: Varies.  Minimum expectation is monthly communication with the Clean Water Educator in Haiti (translation provided) and bi-monthly reports to the board of directors.  Estimated time to create reports: 2 hours every month.  The Clean Water Program can be expanded in partnership with other organizations in the future as volunteer commitment and manpower allows.

b.      Description: Coordinate Lespwa Lavi’s second household water filter distribution and education/follow up over a 6 month time period.  Assess reports received from Clean Water Educator and compile data for brief report to the board of directors.  Optional: help to improve educational hygiene resources for the Educator, continue research on water needs in the area, assist in raising funds for future distributions, etc.  On future trips to Haiti, may assist with water filter testing data collection.

c.       Benefits: Our first water distribution and education program provided much-needed resources to the community in Haiti in a time of drought and COVID-19.  50 family’s lives were changed forever.  We saw clean water access go from 2% in our child sponsorship population to over 20%.  That means 80% of our families still need clean water.  You would be the key to unlocking that.
