Meet Christella
ABOUT CHRISTELLA: Christella Gedeon is 26 years old and is from Verrettes. When she was in high school, she joined our Magic Soccer team, becoming a member of the first girls' soccer team in the region. Because of that experience, she persevered in school and became one of less than 2% of girls in her hometown to graduate! She became a coach for Magic Soccer in 2019. Christella originally planned to apply to medical school, however when she heard about the Child Advocacy program we were starting, she changed her mind. She is passionate about working with children, and became a Child Advocate. Christella also serves on the advisory board for the Lespwa Lavi church.
ABOUT CHRISTELLA'S JOB: Christella continues to coach youth soccer 3 days a week. As an Advocate, she meets regularly with the children on her caseload, as well as their parents/guardians and teachers. She is responsible for monitoring their growth and health and coming up with solutions to help them succeed in school. She is a mentor for the children she serves and coaches, helping to lead Bible studies and share the love of Christ. Christella serves some children who are orphaned or who are Restaveks, and she works with their guardians to ensure the children are safe and treated well.
CHRISTELLA'S GOALS:
"In the next 5 years, I want the life of all children in the Lespwa Lavi program to improve in the health and education area. I want to throw everything to the side that is an obstacle to the full development of children, especially girls. Everyone is talking about Lespwa Lavi."
